Cleethorpes and District Swimming Club (CADS)
Alongside County Team : Hunter hunts for medals in Leeds.
A small yet perfectly formed team from Cleethorpes & District Swimming Club (CADS) elite youth swimmers completed in Leeds at the Yorkshire County Championships 2019. Open to competitive swimmers aged 9 – 12 throughout the northern region, the club’s youth swimmers surpassed their current rankings proudly representing the club. The team carried home 11 top ten rankings and personal best times in every event, however a special mention must be made to both Andrew Hunter and Eve Cooper (both aged 10) who amazed the crowds with 8 medals between them and collectively gaining all 11 of the clubs top 10 rankings for the region.
Andrew Hunter, a member of CADS took to the pool for 8 competitive county races over the course of the weekend. Following an intense competition against swimmers from Leeds, Doncaster and across Yorkshire Andrew ‘swan’ away with Gold medals in 100m Individual Medley, Backstroke and Freestyle and in addition, he carried away an additional Silver in the 50m Freestyle, along with a Bronze in both 50m Butterfly and Backstroke. With a coaching team continuously impressed with his commitment to the sport, Club Chairman Chris Charlton added that, “Andrew’s work ethic and unprecedented commitment in all of his sessions had shone through at the weekends event.” In addition, with many of Andrew’s times coming in line with not only county but regional times his Head Coach, Marc Butcher has a bright future in swimming mapped out for him.
The achievements of the squad swimmers over the course of the weekend are truly inspirational, not only for the club’s elite and competitive swimmers but for local swimmers who are just starting their own swimming journey.
