Lots of Silverware gained at the annual Remembrance Meet  

On Sunday 10th November CADS Swimming club took part in the annual Scunthorpe Anchor Swimming Club remembrance meet. CADS had a fantastic meet with a total of 16 swimmers taking part, achieving a total of 35 medals or speeding tickets. The morning session of the meet gave Grace, Ophelia, Libby, Andrew, Ellie, Becki, Elizabeth, Oscar & Finlay the opportunity to showcase the skills they had recently been working on.


Andrew had a very successful morning and achieved 4 speeding tickets in 100 Individual Medley (IM), 50m Butterfly, Backstroke & Freestyle along with a Gold in the 50m Breaststroke. Libby also had great success with a Gold in 50m Freestyle & Butterfly, Silver in 100m IM and 50m Backstroke & Bronze in 50m Breaststroke. Adding to the medal haul  Oscar incurred a speeding ticket for his 200m IM and 50m Butterfly and gained gold  in 50m Free with 2 Bronze medals in 50m Breaststroke & 50m Backstroke. Ellie, Club Captain finished the mornings A Grade medals off with a bronze in 50m Freestyle.


Additional success was in the B Grade category where Finlay gained Gold in 200m IM & 50m Backstroke, and Silver medals in 50m Breaststroke & 50m Butterfly. Ellie also gained an additional silver in the 50m Breaststroke with Grace earning a bronze in 50m Butterfly. Finally in C Grade, Ophelia gained Silver in 50m Butterfly & Backstroke and a bronze in 50m Freestyle. In addition, Becki came away with a bronze in 200m IM.


The afternoon session allowed Miles, Archie, Violet, Oriana, Evelyn, Tommy, & Lilli to showcase their talent to with their hard work in training shining through. This was Lilli’s first competitive event and she did exceptionally well winning a Bronze in C Grade 50m freestyle. Within B Grade Evelyn’s success included a Gold in 50m Butterfly, and Silver in both 50m Backstroke and Breaststroke whilst Miles gaining a Silver in 50m Breaststroke. However, moving up a grade Miles also came away with silver in 100m IM and 50m Butterfly. Finally, Tommy had two outstanding races with a speeding ticket in his 50m Freestyle following a time of 24.87 seconds and ending the medal haul for the club an A Grade Gold in 50m Butterfly.  


The whole team worked exceptionally hard over the day, were impeccably behaved during the remembrance honours and as always made myself and the club proud of their hard work and commitment to their sport.
